The 1960s was a golden era for Porsche. The company was at the forefront of automotive design and engineering, and its cars were coveted by celebrities and racing drivers alike. The 911, in particular, has become an icon of the automotive world, and its timeless design has inspired countless other cars. Porsche  in the 1970 and 80s

The 1970s amd 1980s were a decade of change for Porsche. The company released a number of new models, including the 928, 944, and 959. Porsche also expanded its reach beyond Europe, opening factories in the United States and Asia. The Porsche 928 was introduced in 1977 as a replacement for the 911.

The 928 was a departure from Porsche’s traditional sports car design, with a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout.

The 928 was initially met with skepticism from Porsche purists, but it went on to become one of the company’s most popular models. The 944 was introduced in 1982 as an entry-level Porsche model.

The 944 featured a four-cylinder engine, making it the first Porsche to use a non-six-cylinder engine since the 356.

The 944 was well-received by the motoring press and went on to become one of Porsche’s best-selling models. The 959 was introduced in 1986 as a limited-production, high-performance version of the 911.

The 959 featured a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. It was one of the first production cars to use all-wheel drive, and its performance was unmatched at the time.

Porsche’s expansion into the United States began in 1978 with the opening of a factory in Georgia. Porsche’s first U.S.-built car was the 911 Turbo, which was assembled at the Georgia plant. In 1981, Porsche opened a second factory in California, which produced the 928 and 944. Porsche’s growth in the 1980s was not without its challenges.

The company was plagued by quality control issues and recalls. In 1986, Porsche was forced to recall all 944s due to a problem with the car’s suspension. Despite these challenges, Porsche emerged from the 1980s as a stronger company than it had been at the start of the decade.
